Ultrasonic nebulizers are used for nebulizing inhalation solutions in the field of respiratory application. Aerosol generation occurs through mechanical vibrations at a frequency of 1.7 MHz, which are produced in distilled water (contact water). These vibrations are created by piezoceramic components that convert electrical energy into mechanical vibrations.
An aquapak® system is used within the contact liquid to physically separate the nebulizer from the nebulization unit. The generated vibrations are transmitted through its base and then spread through the inhalation liquid.
Fine capillary waves form on the surface of the NaCl or inhalation solution, which increase with rising excitation frequency and support the formation of an aerosol.

Please select the correct mask size for your horse:
12l volume for very large horses Dimensions: 28cm opening x 19.5cm base x 29cm height, opening circumference about 85cm, base circumference about 61cm, suitable for large horse breeds or short, powerful noses (Shire horses, etc.)
9l volume for normal horses Dimensions: 26cm opening x 19cm base x 24cm height, opening circumference about 80cm, base circumference about 58cm, suitable for most horse breeds such as warmbloods, larger riding ponies, Haflingers, etc.
7l volume for small horses Dimensions: 23cm opening x 17cm base x 21cm height, opening circumference about 72cm, base circumference about 53cm, suitable for small to medium ponies
The ultrasonic nebulizers of the equosonic series generate aerosol particles in a size range of approx. 0.5 to 5 µm with a nebulization output of up to 5.5 ml/min. For normally sized horses, a performance of about 4 ml/min is often already used. The generated aerosol can distribute in different areas of the respiratory tract depending on particle size, breathing technique, and application situation.
Compared to technically simpler compressor nebulizers, ultrasonic nebulizers work with high-frequency mechanical vibrations and thus produce a fine aerosol spectrum. Since a large part of the surface of the respiratory system is located in the bronchial and alveolar area, particle size plays a crucial role in distribution within the airways.
Over 95% of the surface of the respiratory system is located below the larynx. The bronchial system has extremely fine branches with bronchi in the diameter range of a human hair. In the specialist literature, particle sizes under 5 µm are described in connection with applications where aerosol particles can also reach deeper areas of the respiratory system. This means that a large proportion of the generated aerosol particles should be in the range below 5 µm.
The ultrasonic nebulizers of the equosonic Private and equosonic Clinic series operate with a vibration frequency of the ceramic membrane of 1.7 MHz and generate aerosol particles in a size range of approx. 0.5 to 5 µm.
For as even a distribution of the aerosol as possible, a calm application situation with relaxed breathing and low respiratory rate is recommended. Therefore, the animal should preferably not be moved immediately before the application. Also, a short rest period is recommended immediately after inhalation.
The open mask
Our inhalation mask is made of high-quality, food-safe PE plastic in a bucket shape and does not require additional valves. Unlike closed mask systems, the animal does not have to actively inhale the aerosol mist. Instead, the generated mist is continuously directed into the mask via a ventilation system.
The open system allows for as natural and relaxed breathing as possible during the application. A calm breathing situation can help aerosol particles distribute evenly in the airways. Due to the lower breathing speed during relaxed breathing, fine aerosols can also reach deeper areas of the respiratory tract.
Our inhalers continuously introduce the aerosol into the mask while the horse can inhale and exhale the mist calmly.
Inhalation during movement
We do not recommend inhalation during movement. During physical activity, the breathing pattern often changes to faster and shallower breathing. This can alter the distribution of aerosol particles within the airways.
For as even inhalation as possible, the horse should stand as calmly as possible during the application. Movement after inhalation is generally possible with some time delay. However, immediately after the application, a short rest period of about 15 minutes is recommended. Regular exercise is generally important for horses but should not be combined immediately with inhalation.
Your statutory warranty rights naturally apply and are not limited by our voluntary guarantee.
Additionally, we provide a voluntary 12-month guarantee on the device from the date of purchase.
Ultrasound units as well as batteries are consumable and wear parts. Their lifespan depends on usage, care, charging behavior, storage, water quality, and the inhalation solutions used. Replacement may therefore be required sooner or later.
For consumable and wear parts, the previous usage period is taken into account proportionally within the scope of our voluntary guarantee.
A defect in a consumable or wear part is not automatically a warranty case. In the event of a defect notification, we will technically inspect the device. If a statutory warranty case exists, subsequent performance will be provided free of charge.
