The latest inhaler in our range: The equosonic free is a powerful ultrasonic nebulizer that is mobile as an "all-in-one solution" and comes to you in a practical transport case. We have designed our best ultrasonic technology to be as compact as possible and combined it with an ergonomic mask. Thanks to the two-chamber system, saline, brine, and medications can be nebulized very hygienically. This keeps cleaning simple and straightforward. Our inhalation capsules ensure very low wear on the device, so follow-up costs are very low.
As a world first, there is an additional add-on for our new inhaler. With the new inhalation sticks, therapy can be made even more effective. Various types, such as eucalyptus, thyme, sage, and lavender, can support aromatherapy for different issues. The inhalation sticks are not included in the delivery. Find your favorite variety here or try all varieties right away.
The package includes:

Powerful battery and charger (for 5-8 inhalations)
2 x strap buckle with quick release and carabiner
Padding for mask (normal size)
2 x closure plugs for mask bottom and inhalation stick opening
The device weighs approx. 1.4 kg and is very comfortable to carry due to its geometry and weight distribution
What else is needed to start:
Contact liquid: 30 ml distilled water / alternatively 30 ml tap water (make sure no lime deposits form)
Which size suits me?
The equosonic free is currently available in two sizes. For smaller animals with short noses, we recommend the pony mask, e.g., ponies, Haflingers, Icelandic horses. For horses from the size of thoroughbred or warmblood, we recommend the mask in the standard size. For very broad noses, we recommend purchasing our large padding additionally.
The Technology
Ultrasonic nebulizers are used for nebulizing inhalation solutions in the respiratory application area. Aerosol generation occurs via mechanical vibrations at a frequency of 1.7 MHz, which are produced in distilled water (contact water). These vibrations are generated by piezoceramic components that convert electrical energy into mechanical vibrations.
To physically separate the nebulizer and nebulization unit, an aquapak® system is used within the contact liquid. The mechanical vibrations are transmitted through its base and spread in the inhalation liquid. Fine capillary waves form on the surface of the NaCl or inhalation solution, which increase with rising excitation frequency and enable aerosol formation.
The ultrasonic nebulizers of the equosonic series produce particle sizes of approx. 0.5 to 5 µm with a nebulization output of up to 6.5 ml/min. The generated aerosol spectrum can be distributed in different areas of the respiratory tract depending on particle size, breathing technique, and application situation.
Compared to technically simpler compressor nebulizers, ultrasonic nebulizers work with high-frequency mechanical vibrations, which can produce fine aerosol particles. In the literature, particle sizes under 5 µm are described in connection with applications in respiratory inhalation.
Over 95% of the surface of the respiratory system is located below the larynx. The bronchial system has extremely fine branches with very small diameters. Therefore, particle size plays a crucial role in the distribution of aerosol particles within the airways.
The ultrasonic nebulizers of the equosonic Privat, equosonic Klinik, and equosonic free series operate with a ceramic membrane frequency of 1.7 MHz and produce aerosol particles in a size range of approx. 0.5 to 5 µm.
For the most even distribution of the aerosol, calm and relaxed breathing during application is recommended. Therefore, the animal should stand as still as possible during inhalation and not be moved intensively immediately before or directly after the application.
The Open Mask
Our inhalation mask is made of high-quality, food-safe PE plastic and does not require additional valves. Unlike closed mask systems, the animal does not have to actively inhale the aerosol mist. Instead, the generated mist is continuously fed into the mask via a ventilation system.
The open system allows for the most natural and relaxed breathing possible during application. Calm breathing can help aerosol particles distribute evenly in the airways. Due to the lower breathing speed during relaxed breathing, fine aerosols can also reach deeper areas of the respiratory tract.
The inhalers continuously introduce the generated aerosol into the mask while the animal can inhale and exhale the mist in a calm breathing situation.
Inhalation During Movement
We do not recommend inhalation during movement. During physical activity, the breathing pattern often changes to faster and shallower breathing. This can alter the distribution of aerosol particles within the airways.
For the most even inhalation, the animal should therefore stand still during the application. Movement after inhalation is generally possible with a time delay. However, immediately after the application, a short rest period is recommended first.
