Commissioning
The equosonic series exclusively uses aquapak® inhalation capsules for nebulization. Below, the assembly of the device and the use of aquapak® inhalation capsules are explained step by step.
Fill approximately 500 ml of distilled water (not included) to the red mark in the nebulizer chamber. The water in the nebulizer chamber serves to transmit the mechanical vibration and is not aerosolized. It is physically separated from the inhalant.
|
|
When using for the first time, open the two nozzles of an aquapak® inhalation capsule. To do this, break off the closure caps at both nozzles and empty the aquapak® (it contains distilled water, which can be used if necessary to fill the nebulizer chamber).

For an inhalation treatment, you will need about 40 ml of inhalation solution. To draw up the NaCl solution, remove the larger of the two plastic caps from the NaCl bottle and insert a withdrawal spike with the pointed end into it. Then, attach a syringe to the withdrawal spike and draw the required amount of NaCl solution. Fill the aquapak® with it (max. 40 ml). |
|
Insert the aquapak® inhalation capsule filled with the inhalant from the top into the device's nebulizer chamber until it is fully seated. Ensure that the membrane at the bottom of the aquapak® is shaped. |

Now connect one of the flexible hoses to a nozzle of the aquapak® inhalation capsule. You will plug the other end onto the nozzle of the device.
|
|
Cut about 2 m of aerosol hose from the attached hose reel (2 m = 5 links) and attach one end to the second connector of the aquapak® inhalation capsule. Connect the other end to the inhalation mask. |

Now connect the plugged-in power cable to the 220 Volt power supply and turn on the device at the rotary control by turning the control knob clockwise to the desired intensity. Both indicator lights will illuminate. |

"Turn the gray control knob for the ventilation speed clockwise to the desired setting." Perform the inhalation.

inhalation
For an inhalation treatment, you will need about 40 ml of inhalant (10-12 min).
"In principle, we recommend inhalation with a 3-4% saline solution."
For this, fill the aquapak® with 40 ml (2x20ml syringe) of 0.9% NaCl solution (included) and add about 1 g (1 measuring spoon) of Pharmasalz (included).
"In addition, all lung-acting medications can be nebulized in conjunction with NaCl, in consultation with your veterinarian."
"For example, we recommend adding the following substances to 40 ml of 0.9% NaCl solution:"
- 0.5-1 g crystalline pharmaceutical salt (scope of delivery)
- ½ Ampoule MucoClear 6% Inhalation Solution
- ½ ampoule FLUIMUCIL 10% solution for inhalation
- 3-4 drops of pure eucalyptus oil (caution: allergic reaction), available in the online shop www.medhartwig.de
- 1 ampoule bi-medEctoin® easy breathe, available at www.medhartwig.de
Oily substances should only be used in small amounts, as they complicate the nebulization process.
When nebulizing medications, the nebulizer output and air supply should not be set to full power, but rather to a lower setting, so that the mist flows slowly into the mask and can be exhaled well.
Tips for Performing Inhalation
In principle, inhalation should take place in a calm environment so that the horse breathes deeply and quietly, allowing the inhalant to settle well on the mucous membranes. After the treatment, the horse should rest for about 15 minutes. After that, movement is beneficial for your horse.
After treatment
"After inhalation, we recommend rinsing the aquapak® inhalation capsule with hot tap water and disinfecting the hoses, mask, and aquapak® weekly."
Please regularly (at least every 4 weeks) replace the distilled water in the fog chamber.
To empty the fog chamber, use the drain nozzle and, if necessary, attach the included drain hose. Open the drain nozzle by turning it counterclockwise. To close it, turn the nozzle clockwise.
If not used for a long time, drain the water from the fog chamber and dry the fog chamber with a clean household cloth. This protects the oscillating ceramic and extends its lifespan.
Please never touch the ceramic oscillation with hard objects (knives, screwdrivers, abrasive powders). Only use chemical cleaners to remove stubborn dirt.
Disinfection
Clean hoses, aquapak®, and masks regularly with a suitable disinfectant, for example, INNOWATECH Anolyte-B or Edisonite®. We recommend weekly disinfection. Alcohol-based cleaning agents must not be used.
Use the disinfectant according to the manufacturer's instructions.
INNOWATECH Anolyte-B can be sprayed directly onto the surface to be disinfected. Alternatively, it can be nebulized pure or mixed with water (1:5).
Other information
"Only 'open inhalation masks' without sealing may be used with the devices of the equosonic series."
The usual precautions when handling electrical devices must be observed.
The operating temperature should be between 5°C and 45°C. Please do not store the device filled with distilled water below 5°C. At lower temperatures, the contact water in the mist chamber must be drained, as otherwise the ceramic of the device may be permanently damaged.
Please keep the device box with the inserts for possible maintenance or repair submissions.
guarantee
"We provide a warranty of 12 months from the date of purchase for the device purchased from us."
"Excluded from this is the swing ceramic, which, as a wear part, is not subject to any warranty claims. Hard impacts, extreme temperatures, and mechanical damage to the surfaces lead to rapid aging or sudden failure."
Tipping the device during operation can damage the ceramic or device electronics. Be sure to right the device immediately and turn it off. From model series 12/20 onwards, the devices are equipped with a tilt sensor.
Causes of Errors and Remedies
The device cannot be turned on. |
Check that the power cable is properly plugged in and connected to the power supply. |
The device can be turned on, but it does not mist. |
Check that there is enough contact water in the mist chamber (up to the red marking). |
|
Check if the swimmer is freely movable in the fog chamber and is swimming at the top. |
|
Check if the aquapak® is clean and that there are no oily residues in it. Rinse the aquapak® with hot water or use a new aquapak® if necessary. |
The amount of nebulization is not sufficient. |
Check that the membrane is shaped at the bottom of the aquapak® and is not pressed in. |
|
There is too much liquid (>40 ml) in the aquapak®. Remove liquid. |
|
Check if the silicone ring of the fog chamber is properly installed. The step must be visible from above. |
